San Ildefonso is a first-class municipality in northeastern Bulacan, known for its fertile agricultural lands and cultural traditions. Once a barrio of San Miguel called Bulak, it became an independent town during the Spanish period and was named after San Ildefonso of Toledo. Over time, it grew into a key agricultural hub, producing rice, corn, and vegetables. The town has also earned recognition for its progress in local governance, agriculture programs, eco-friendly initiatives, and community development projects. Today, San Ildefonso continues to balance farming, commerce, and industries, with its town fiesta celebrated every January 23 in honor of its patron saint. Best High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) Performer Among the municipalities in Bulacan, San Ildefonso ranked #1 in performance under the Provincial Agriculture Office’s HVCDP category (for its agriculture office implementation). Community Food Security / Gardening Initiatives Barangay Matimbubong in San Ildefonso won the “Best Gulayan” Award in Bulacan’s Provincial Search for Best Gulayan sa Barangay 2023. Child-Friendly Local Governance The municipality passed the 2023 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) and received the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance.
